About McClure | architecture
McClure | architecture is a small boutique architectural firm engaged in upper-end custom residential work. Launched in 2015, and located in Memphis, Tennessee, it has enjoyed serving clients across the Southeastern United States. Completed projects vary in scale and complexity, ranging from new residences; existing house alterations and additions; pool, garage, and garden structures; to the design of handsome pieces of bespoke furniture.
Led by principal Mark W. McClure, AIA, the practice has developed a reputation for producing elegant, refined, and well-proportioned designs for their patrons. The body of McClure | architecture‘s work is traditional, grounded in classical architectural principles. The design solutions are not simply historical examples of various styles of architecture transported to a particular region. While they may be based on historical precedent, Mark captures the essential nature and forms of a style and then reinterprets it for that particular client and that particular site. The graceful and restrained classicism embodied in the firm’s work is expressed in its carefully studied proportions and meticulous details.
Prior to starting his namesake firm, Mark worked in several of Memphis’ largest architectural firms, gaining experience in medical, commercial, and residential projects in the United States and Europe. He then worked with local architect Oscar Menzer for twenty three years where Mark has concentrated on upper-end custom residential work.
